Axelle Dubau-Prévôt.
Lives in: the Pyrenees-Orientales
Racing debut: 4 years old
Axelle Dubau-Prévôt comes from a cycling family. She has raced on the road professionally, as well as dipping her toes into cyclocross and mountain biking. Since 2024 gravel has been her focus. (She’s also a mean trail runner too!)
What’s your first important memory of cycling?
My first racing bike. I was four. My father had a bike shop and made a bike especially for me, pink with glitter and flat handlebars marked ‘DUBAU’. The first of many!
Why did you choose gravel?
Like any cyclist of my generation, I dreamed of going professional. I did so in 2017, before realising that this was not the aspect of cycling that I liked. I discovered gravel some time later and I loved the feeling of escape that it gave me, this feeling of freedom and discovery. In 2022, I took my first gravel bike trip, from Font-Romeu to Santiago de Compostela. I loved it.
What’s your biggest challenge in 2025?
The Life Time Grand Prix, without a doubt! It’s a challenge we absolutely wanted to take part in and since our selection, I’ve been thinking about nothing else! The United States is really something and the atmosphere is incredible. I can’t wait to experience it again and I feel very lucky.
How do you prepare for a gravel race?
A little yoga in the morning and some activations on the bike in the hour before departure.
How do you keep a balance between your professional and personal lives, your work and your adventures on the bike?
Cycling is an integral part of my life and I am happy to share it with Hugo. We have chosen a rather unusual life and we cherish the chance to be where we are today. So I would say that the secret is simply to be sure of your choices and to be truly passionate.
What does the name ‘Numéro 31’ mean to you?
We wanted the name of our team to sound French. It was important for us to have a very French identity, given that we will be competing internationally and a lot in the United States. We were also keen to find something that suited both of us. We were both born on the 31st of the month, and we made a connection with this number, which is associated with values of determination, independence, new beginnings...
Why Café du Cycliste?
For a long time, I wanted to be different and to show this through my clothing style. Café du Cycliste has always been an inspiration to me, because of its constant originality in its choice of materials, textiles, patterns... And yet, in the past I never had the opportunity to display this originality on the bike. Working with Café du Cycliste is an opportunity for creativity, freedom and to be who I want to be!
“This project combines performance with a quest to escape.”
