Riding on the Côte d’Azur at this time of year, it’s not hard to see where the idea came from for Fleurette, our gold standard superlight jersey we built for riding in the heat of the Mediterranean summer.

From February onwards, when the hills around Cannes explode in colour with the flowering of the mimosas, spring is a riot for the senses, a burst of colour and a symphony of light and shade. The perfume industry in these parts is a dynamic presence, with petals still gathered by hand to feed the stills in Grasse. And closer to the border, as the countryside gets more rugged, wildflowers line the roads and paths.

Café du Cycliste did, in fact, begin life in an actual café on the roads near Grasse. So it was in part thanks to this heritage that we created Fleurette in 2015. Over the years it has appeared in a variety of liveries drawing their inspiration from the sights, sounds and smells of the Côte d’Azur.

But all good things must come to an end. Long live Laurette, our new reference style for long, hot summer days, when the road winds up into the mountains and you must follow. While following in the lineage of Fleurette, it’s totally revamped, with new construction, new high-wicking recycled Italian fabric, a low-profile collar, and updated style details, particularly on the sleeves. If you ever rode Fleurette, you’ll feel right at home in Laurette, and we think you’ll agree that the classic has got even better…
