Thierry Baudier
Nice Store Manager
Thierry Baudier, our store manager in Nice, tells us about his love of cycling and his journey with Café du Cycliste.
When did cycling first became a part of your life?
Passionate about windsurfing, I spent a lot of time waiting for wind and waves in my van at spots in Brittany and northern France. Instead of doing nothing in those moments, I bought a mountain bike. This was in 1991… it was a revelation!
If you had to pick just one place, where would you say is the best destination for a bike ride?
Nice, despite the challenging terrain.
What’s your history with Café du Cycliste? When did you first join the brand and what is your current role?
I left Paris in 2016 to open a spin studio in Nice. That’s when I discovered the brand and its Cappuccino and Espresso rides! These days, I’m store manager at our original café-boutique on the old port in Nice.
Could you share an unforgettable experience or memory you’ve had with Café du Cycliste during a ride or event?
My first Espresso Rides with Thibault Athané, discovering the surrounding areas were a complete eye-opener. But the real epic moment for the history books happened this year, on Saturday 20 July, with the start of the penultimate stage of the Tour de France right in front of the shop.
For newcomers to the brand, where can they find Café du Cycliste products and gear?
Come visit us in our hometown of Nice, where you can find not only some of the best riding in the world, on the deserted mountain roads of the Alpes-Maritimes, but also see a range of products at our store on the port. Sit down, grab a coffee and experience life on the Côte d’Azur! If you can’t make it, then there’s online of course, and we have local retailers too…
