Our gravel team went racing in a special, one-off national champion's jersey!

Last weekend, Numéro 31 par Café du Cycliste athlete Hugo Drechou raced the Marathon Cup Cambrils. Being French UCI XCM champion, he did so in a one-off jersey in the French national colours that we designed especially for the occasion. It’s the first time we’ve had the honour of producing a national champion’s kit!

The Marathon Cup Cambrils, taking place south of Barcelona on the Spanish Mediterranean coast, is the first UCI-level XCM race of the season. The 62-kilometre course started on the beach and headed out on singletrack through beautiful forests, climbing to over 500 metres altitude before descending to finish on the beach again.

Hugo came fourth, just a whisker away from the podium, but was happy with the position, as the long, demanding course was ideal preparation for the challenges to come.

“There’s no better way to finish a training block than with a race,” he said, “especially since it was the opportunity to wear my brand new French champion jersey designed by Café du Cycliste this winter. Fourth at the finish after only three hours of mountain biking in several months – the work is done towards the first goal of the season, the Life Time Sea Otter Classic! That will be where we unveil our brand new Café du Cycliste skinsuit that's specially designed for long gravel races.”
